Relax at The Lazy Loon with lakeside fire pit & featuring a brand new hot tub!

Don’t miss your opportunity to lounge at the Lazy Loon! Take advantage of an up North experience in our updated, single level, 3 bed/1 bath home with a spacious, open floor plan, and fully equipped kitchen to meet all your cooking needs. A gas grill is also available during the summer and fall season. Upper South Long Lake is 800 acres of fun (for any season), located just 2 hours north of the Twin Cities and less than 10 min SE of Brainerd.

The Space:
Enjoy full-sun throughout the day and into the evening with our south facing exposure, 100 ft of sandy shoreline, a private sandy beach for the kids, and of course, fishing from the dock will promise to be entertaining. The property’s level elevation, with no sloping or stairs to the lake, make this an easily accessible set up for all ages and abilities. When you are ready for a break from the sun, relax under the large shade trees and enjoy dinner on the deck, while embracing the stunning lake views, the loons, or even an occasional eagle or two! Of course, don’t miss out on evening smores and gatherings around the lakeside fire pit.

We have you covered for cool, rainy days inside with a variety of board and card games, puzzles, and plenty of family friendly DVD’s.

During the winter months, the Lazy Loon is a great place to stay for ice fishing, snowmobiling and other winter activities. Upper South Long Lake is well known for ice fishing and it's home of the big Crappie Flop fishing tournament. In addition, we are conveniently located with easy access to hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails! It is a great place to enjoy every season!

We have enjoyed sharing our property with others over the years. We only ask that the families that consider choosing to share our home will appreciate and respect it as well. We are looking for responsible adults and/or families only please. Absolutely no parties, no pets and no smoking allowed.

Great Place!!
Our stay here was great and we will definitely be back if we need a nice relaxing break. Our main reason for booking was the hotub! The only reason I would not give this place 5 stars was the comfort of the couch/furniture. It was outdated and in my opinion not comfortable. We spent most of our time when watching tv/shows in the master bedroom on a small tv as the couch was not ideal. Other than this the place was phenomenal!

Annual Family Getaway
This was our third year at the Lazy Loon. We love it here! Our only wish is that we could stay longer -- and more often. The property is just right for our annual family vacation. The deck is where we spent most of our time. The cabin owner is great too and has always been very responsive. We hope to be back again next year!

This property is exceptional. When you walk in, right away you see how clean and how well it is taken care. The view from the cabin to the lake Is gorgeous. The kitchen is very well equipped with whatever you need maybe. The owner reached out right away to make sure that we got in and we were happy with our accommodations.

Another great stay at the Lazy Loon!
This is our third time in four years to stay at the Lazy Loon, and it won't be our last. Everything is great from the beds to the kitchen supplies to the AC. We love the sandy beach for our kids, and the private dock for our boat. Having it ~2 hours from the city and ~5 mins from Paul Bunyan Land just makes it perfect. Looking forward to next time!

Perfect setting for family vacation.

Beautiful property that sits right on the lake! Very clean and had everything you could need which was super nice. Our grandson loved the wagon and the sandy beach! Another Great Stay at the Lazy Loon
This was our second visit to the Lazy Loon, and we loved it just as much! It's the perfect combination of elements we look for: within 2.5 hours of the Twin Cities, no huge hill or long walk to the water/beach, public access available, and enough comfy beds to fit us and our guests. They are extremely generous with kitchen supplies and equipment, as well as use of their water toys like the paddle board, kayak, floaties and more. We did have a slight issue with a clogged septic at one point, but Brent responded immediately and someone was there to fix it within 15 minutes—so it was no problem for us! We're already talking about making an annual trip to the Lazy Loon as a family tradition, so long as they'll have us!

Perfect family vacation setting
We loved our week at the Lazy Loon. Such a beautiful cabin and setting. The open kitchen area was perfect for our granddaughter to run around and play in. We enjoyed the comfy deck chairs and the sandy beach and walk in lake were perfect for our time on/near the water. The cabin was clean, well stocked and the beds were comfy. Liked it so much we are booked for next summer too!

Beyond expectations
This place was a amazing!! Our family of five, with children ranging from 4,3 and 11 months stayed here for 5 days. It was the perfect size, very clean and fully stocked. Had anything you would need including the most fully stocked kitchen I’ve ever stayed in at a VRBO, laundry already with soap and a garage full of outdoor toys including sand toys, kayak, paddle board, life jackets, wagon, blow up toys, etc. The property was just as pictured, very beautiful and the lot was flat and you really felt like you were on the water. The beach was raked prior to our arrival and was shaded by the backyard trees which again was a bonus during these hot days and little kids. The water is clean and sandy and not very deep which was great for our young crew. It was a quiet neighborhood and the lake was pretty quiet during stay as well. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming, baseball in the yard, cooking big meals and playing games and watching dvds in the evening after the sun when down which were also provided by the property. We want to come back next summer already! Thanks!

Exceptional Lake Cabin
An exceptional lake property! We enjoyed all that is offered. The views are fantastic, the cabin is very clean, well stocked, and comfortable inside and out and the open space. Love the deck furniture, the private dock, and fire pit are awesome amenities. The owners take pride with their property and care about their guests. We would recommend this property for families and anyone looking for a great cabin to stay at. Our hosts are wonderful to work with and are quick to respond to any questions. Another wonderful stay!
I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed this property! It’s just perfect for our small family! 5star communication between the renters, and you will not find a cleaner cabin anywhere!! Our little one loved fishing off the dock and playing in the sand, and already wants to go back. Looking forward to returning!

What a fantastic lake cabin. We enjoyed the view and spent most of our time either on the deck looking at the lake, on the beach next to the lake, in the lake or on the lake. The cabin was comfortable, clean and well stocked too. We had a week to enjoy it all but we still didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait until our next stay!

Excellent Updated Property!!
Wonderful! Everything was easy from booking to checkout. The owners were quick with responses leading up to and during our stay. The Lazy Loon was very clean, well-stocked, and beautifully decorated. The layout of the home was perfect for our family of four (two boys ages 2 and 7). There was plenty of room to hang inside to play games or watch movies (provided) as well as space for the boys to play with their own toys. It never felt crowded. The deck offered lots of seating for eating and relaxing. The private dock and fire pit were super nice amenities. Our boys loved playing on the lakeshore in the sand and splashing in the water. It is clear these owners take pride in the property and care about their guests. We would absolutely recommend!

Convenient Lakeside Vacation
The cabin has a nice open floor plan for the living, kitchen and dining space. Very nice deck and furniture as well.
