Cozy Cabin Down on the Farm

Cozy cabin situated on the edge of our 200 acre farm in the mountains of West Virginia along a two lane scenic country road. Cabin has upstairs combination living room/bedroom, the bathroom is also upstairs. Kitchen and dining is downstairs. Sleeps up to 4 in full bed and futon sofa. Enjoy wildlife viewing and access to hiking trails throughout the farm. ATVs welcome. Cabin is one mile from a Buckhannon River public access point. River is stocked with trout by the WV DNR in the spring and fall.

We are pet friendly (dogs only, fee required). Must clean up after your pet inside and out. Excessive pet hair on furniture or pet excrement (especially inside) may result in forfeiture of all or part of security deposit.

This cabin was perfect for my wife and me. The cabin was functional, felt new and was very comfortable. The cabin is in a remote section of WV and quiet, save a few vehicles passing by on the main road. We wished our stay was longer!

Really rural area and just a little hard to find at night but this was an outstanding rental. Cute and clean as a pin. Nice layout and decor. Loved the gas heat because it was cold that night with frost in the morning. Cheryl was a gem and we will use this getaway again in the future.

Truly wonderful getaway!
My husband and I stayed for our anniversary and it was perfect! The property was clean, directions to get there were clear, and everything was cozy and inviting. The location was beautiful, out of the way but still accessible. I have stayed at another rental of Cheryl’s so I knew this one would impress too! We’re already planning our next stay.

Cozy Cabin Indeed!
This little cabin with its well equipped kitchen was immaculate and comfortable, perfect for a week long stay in the peaceful hills of WV. Proximity to Kumbrabow State Forest, Holly River and Audra State Parks and the WV Wildlife Preserve provides plenty of opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I had a great time! We got a lot of cabin remodeling done adjacent from the Pringle House. The weather was fantastic and the deer visited often. Oh, the margaritas were good to!

Great place to stay.
Great place to stay. We were visiting friends a few miles away in Rock Cave and this place was perfect. We just slept there with our 2 dogs as we were visiting all weekend but this was just what we needed. Nice and toasty as the temps one night was 13 degrees. Will stay again when we visit our friends.

If you have an opportunity to go to French Creek, Helvetia or surrounding area, you should stay here. The hosts are kind, considerate and down to earth. The property is well kept, cozy and very welcoming. We have had the opportunity to stay here twice now and intend on going back.

Cozy Cabin in the Woods
This was a wonderful weekend get-a-away close to home. There was plenty to do when not at the cabin--wildlife reserve, gift shops, and autumn country roads. The scenery was spectacular. Back at the cabin, we found a clean, cozy, beautifully decorated temporary home. Our furry friends agree, this was one of our favorite cabins we have visited especially since it was pet friendly. We highly recommend this cabin.

Cozy & rustic w/o being too isolated.
First time in this part of WV, usually stayed near Stonewall Jackson lake. In spite of the tiny bathroom & shower, we all made it work. Complete kitchen & appliances made it very nice including an outside grill & fire pit (swing set for the little ones). Came stocked with extra towels, linens, pillows & toiletries (free WIFI & numerous free streaming services on the wall-mounted flat screen TV when we needed to relax & watch stuff). The traffic noise (lumber trucks mostly) was a distraction at times, along with a neighboring farm's barking hound dogs. Grocery store (IGA) about 15 minutes away in Rock Cave, with more shopping options about 30 minutes north in Buckhannon (Walmart, fast food, gas, etc.) - nearest gas station about 15 minutes north on Rte 20 in French Creek (very rustic hardware store). All traveling was on rolling, curving well-lined well-paved two lane roads although the lack of shoulders, guard rails & street lights took some getting used to. Lots of deer wandering around but no bears :( but hey! almost no bugs !!! (I'm a bug magnet so this was a huge plus, so I spent most mornings & evenings sitting out on the porch w/o my usual bug repellent spray.) Day & night temperatures were reasonable but humid (I heard that we got lucky since it can get quite hot in the summer). The cabin has one (1) window AC unit on the top floor (bed, comfy chair, pull-out futon, TV, bathroom/shower) as well as a large dehumidifier on the bottom floor [kitchen, dining table, gas fireplace, padded bench seat] . Both units kept the cabin cool & dry although they were not the quietest models. The bed & pull-out futon were comfortable (it would be nice to have a pull-out futon on the bottom floor replacing the upholstered bench - that would give extra sleeping & privacy options). The host Cheryl was very responsive re: some burned out light bulbs on the day of arrival and her family was very gracious, always waving as they drove by on their gravel driveway (they live at the top of the property, a 200 acre farm with some cows & a bull, I was told). I would definitely return.

The property is beautiful, well maintained, clearly very cared for and offers many home necessities. The hosts are wonderful, they want you to feel at home once you are on site. They went out of to make sure our stay was pleasant and we would consider them out of state friends. If you are heading down to French Creek you should not pass this place up. We will be back in the future. :) Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Great location for day trips and to “get away”.
We used this property as a base camp to explore the surrounding area. The WV Wildlife Center is just down the road, as is the little village of Helvetia. Cass Railroad and Green Bank Observatory are within driving distance. Holly River State Park offers great hiking. The property is very clean and the owner was easy to reach and quick to respond, if needed. I would recommend this cabin. It also is perfect for people with a dog(s), as there is a lot of outdoor space.

Nice cabin; location lacking
This is an adorable little cabin that is furnished with everything you will need. We had plenty of towels, blankets, cookware, etc. and the inside of the cabin was exactly as listed. Fruit flies were an issue from the time we arrived. The location of the property is misleading on the listing. It is mere feet off the road (the road is behind the cabin down a small hill - maybe 6 feet). It isn't a major highway, but there is plenty of traffic including construction and logging vehicles. We were not expecting to be THAT close to traffic noise. In addition, the neighborhood has a serious barking dog problem. The dogs are outside all day and all night, and there were very few periods where they were quiet. Hound dog barking carries and it is loud. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful place to sit outside and relax, we did not find it here. I wish we could pick up the cute cabin and move it elsewhere. We ordered firewood, kindling, and fire starters ahead of time because we thought we would sit out by the fire at night. We changed our minds due to traffic and dogs. Apparently untouched firewood and wrapped fire starters are non-refundable, so owner is going to resell our wood to someone else and make double money. Recommend not buying extras until you know you will use them.
