Cozy Mountain Retreat

Our home is located in St. Mary's Glacier, a subdivision about 10 miles northwest of Idaho Springs, and about an hour from the Denver Metro area. It sits at just under 10,000 feet so remember to drink lots of water. We have two bedrooms upstairs, one with a king size bed and the other with a queen size bed. There is a full bath upstairs as well as a small washer and dryer, a stocked linen closet, and plenty of storage for clothes. Downstairs we have an open concept living, dining, and kitchen area with a 2 person breakfast bar and all the comforts of home. Off the living room is a half bath, a selection of DVD's and books, Direct TV, Wifi, and our couch folds out to a queen size bed. A wood burning stove in the living room can heat the entire house but there are also electric baseboard heaters in every room.

We love animals and we do allow a maximum of 2 dogs for an additional fee of $75 per stay. Please make sure to indicate pets in your reservation.

We love to sit out on the deck in the morning and drink coffee while we wait for the deer to frolic by on their way to the creek that backs up to the property. During the summer, our feeders attract hummingbirds, moose are common, and at times black bears like to visit the neighborhood. 4-wheeling trails are abundant in the St. Mary's area and many can be accessed from our house. The Indian Hot Springs are just a short drive down to Idaho Springs which also has rafting, shopping, breweries, excellent BBQ, and the iconic Beau Jo's pizza. We are a 30 minute drive to Central City and Black Hawk, 25 minutes to Echo Lake and Mt. Evans, and are surrounded by winter and summer sports recreation areas such as skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ATV trails, hiking, fishing, ice skating, and more!

Quaint and great for relaxing.
Great weekend escape for relaxing. Home had two comfy bedrooms and kitchen with all of the basics. Dining/living area very comfortable and easy to chat and play. Large deck you can relax on. Lots of games. We saw deer and lots of bunnies. You can walk to St Mary's glacier (a little over a mile up hill) or a short drive. We drove into Idaho Springs for a few hours each day (twenty minutes of very winding road each way with pretty views) for kiddos to visit the mine and play. Just FYI... The weather is always about 20 degrees cooler than Idaho Springs forecast. We are newbies to the mountains and got caught in a very unexpected snowstorm the night we arrived as we were expecting it to be much warmer.

Perfect Mountain Retreat!
This was our third stay at ‘Cozy Mountain Retreat’. We highly recommend having morning coffee on the deck to take in the scenery and the wildlife. We saw deer, rabbits, Blue Jays, an eagle, and very busy squirrels. This is a quiet neighborhood, and the cabin is clean and quite comfortable. Looking forward to staying here again.

Serene and Peaceful Cabin in the woods
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin in the woods. I liked the fact that we were not completely isolated but felt far away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Idaho Springs. Very spacious Master Bedroom and the kitchen was completely stocked with most appliances you could need. Would definitely stay here again!

Mother daughter get away without kids was fabulous. Close to Red Rocks for our concert, fabulous hiking including the famous St Mary's Glacier, groceries and restaurants also convenient, while still being in the mountains. Relax with a View
We recently stayed at this beautiful mountain cabin with our family of four and dog! Our first day there we were greeted by two large moose and a number of beautiful hummingbirds! The house was perfect, clean and inviting. The only downside, certainly no fault of the owners, was that it’s a 10 mile drive up the mountain with locals who drives like Cowboys. All we’re saying is be careful making that trip and if you feel pressured pull over because those are some serious cliffs to be tailgated on. Idaho Springs is a great little town and the Phoenix gold mine is highly recommended. Bottom line we would stay here again in a heartbeat and really enjoyed the vacation!

Perfect Mountain Retreat!
This was our second stay at ‘Cozy Mountain Retreat’. The views are amazing, peaceful/quiet neighborhood with very comfortable/clean accommodations. What a treat to have coffee on the deck and watch a moose grazing in the meadow by the creek! We highly recommend this cabin and appreciate quick responses from the owner for a question or two. ‘Thank you’ for a delightful four nights at your amazing cabin. We’re looking forward to returning in September to take in the fall colors.

Perfect Mountain Getaway
Absolutely gorgeous views, cozy cabin and the perfect way to spend a long weekend. Plenty of room for 3 adults and 2 preteens. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils and pans. No crazy check out instructions. Great neighborhood. Be aware, this is 9 miles off the main road and being familiar with mountain driving, especially in the snowy months is important to get to this cabin. Loved our stay and plan to be back again!

Winter Wonderland
The property is as described, It is an adorable home that feels homey and comfortable. We used the fireplace every evening. There was a small amount of wood but we brought plenty with us. The drive up to the home and down is a little scary for us flat land dwellers. We survived and have amazing stories to tell. The home is very close to St. Mary's Glacier which I hoped we would get to go to but the weather would not cooperate with us. We had everything we needed plus more. The owners responded very quickly to our messages when we had questions. I appreciated the coffee and creamer that was available so much. It was a life saver for me. We are a family of 5 with three children. The two younger ones slept in the living room. The only down side is we had to wait for hot water after each bath. With a family of 5 that takes a while. The views from the home and around were spectacular. We would love to return in the summer to see everything again. I recommend this property 100%

Great getaway close to town
This was a fun place to escape for fall break. Being from Denver, we liked that it was close, and didn’t have to drive through Eisenhower tunnel! Perfect location for hiking St Mary’s Glacier. We spent a lot of time on the deck. Very well equipped!

The cabin was so adorable! Even cuter than in the pictures! The view of the mountains was just incredible! It was comfy, well stocked with necessity’s. If you are looking for something quite, peaceful, and removed from any hustle & bustle this is your spot! Perfect relaxing getaway for our Anniversary! Hiking St. Mary’s Glacier was incredible & very close. Evergreen & Georgetown are nearby. Be sure to do an ATV tour! This cabin was perfect for the two of us, thank you for a great little get away!

Enjoyed our time at this property. Took a little time to adjust to altitude — drink lots of water. Saw moose and her baby in meadow below deck — so special. A lot of rain during our stay and lost power for 12 hours (9:30 pm until 9:30 am next morning) one day, but we were still able to enjoy nearby attractions (gold mine, hiking, visits to Georgetown and Idaho Springs, etc). Lots of condiments at cabin. No mobile service, but able to use Wi-Fi calling when needed (except power outage). We would stay again!

Lovely stay
The cabin is exactly as described. The scenery and location was better than expected. One afternoon there was a deer hanging out in the front yard when we returned. We saw a moose, which my kids say was the best part of their trip :) My kids are 7 and 9 and we the space fit us just fine. Kitchen outfitted well enough to cook several dinners while there.
