My family and I were traveling from Georgia to Indiana and decided to reserve a hotel midway on the drive to rest. We paid for the hotel in full through Expedia before we arrived to the hotel. By the time we made it to check in it was around 3am. We were all exhausted and just wanted to sleep. However, when I was checking in, the receptionist told me the balance was due. I explained that I had already paid through Expedia and she was mistaken. I showed her the receipt but despite seeing the proof she continued to argue with me stating that I could not check in without making a payment. She said that it could be refunded in the morning when her manager came in but I would have to pay in order to proceed. I refused. We were traveling on a budget and could not afford to pay twice. Not to mention that it was just not right to make me pay twice. She continued to argue with me for what felt like an eternity and of course there was no manager on site to speak to. Finally she ended up calling a manager that was at home and waking them up to walk her through the process of applying my expedia payment to our file so that the system would proceed with check in. This entire process took us about an hour. I had my cranky children in the car. It was extremely inconvenient. The receptionist was incredibly rude and was obviously not trained well enough to be left alone. If it wasn’t for this experience I’d likely leave a better review. The hotel was decent but the staff was not.
