Cette belle maison historique est en plein cœur du champ de bataille national historique d'Antietam! L'empreinte d'origine de cette maison a été construite en 1790 et était à l'origine utilisée comme bureau de poste pendant la guerre civile. Plus tard, le bâtiment a été ajouté dans les années 1850. À quelques secondes de la boutique de crème glacée Nutter's connue au niveau national, de la boulangerie Burkholder, de la Captain Bender's Tavern, qui propose un menu gastronomique incroyable, et de nombreux autres magasins locaux.

Il y a tellement de choses à faire quand vous restez ici. Visitez le champ de bataille national d'Antietam et découvrez les environs de la tour de guet de l'ère de la guerre civile; visitez le pont Burnside récemment restauré, parcourez le canal C&O, pêchez la rivière Potomac et le ruisseau Antietam, visitez le cimetière national d'Antietam. Authentic Historical Experience
We came into town for a family wedding and this home gave us a great feel of what life is like in a historic town. We enjoyed the Nutters Ice Cream and how close the home was to everything we needed.

Very Solid Experience
This is a very solid VRBO. Pros: - Location is excellent; right in the downtown Sharpsburg next to a yummy ice cream place. It's easy to drive to and from. - Parking was good. There's a public lot across the street (no overnight there) and street parking in front of the unit. - There's a good amount of space in this unit with three bedrooms, a living room, dinning room, and kitchen. - The wifi is blazing fast; I was getting over 300 mbps when running speed tests. - It was a comfortable stay. The beds are nice and the sheets seem quality. There are a few places to adjust the temperature in the house and the system seems to work well. - Cleanliness was mostly solid; the bathrooms and bedrooms seemed well cleaned. (I'll speak about the living space in the Cons) Cons: - The main Con would only apply to people with younger kids. While the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean; the carpets in the living spaces were quite dirty. There were lots of dirt and dust specs and there was also a small lego piece sitting on the carpet, which for our child was a choking hazard. If you do not spend time down on the floor with a child, this is probably not as big of a deal. - Communication was rocky to start. I tried calling the property manager from the phone number listed on VRBO, only to find out that it is an old phone number, if you're trying to call the number ending in 8150, that is incorrect, I can't post the correct phone number in a review, but the 8150 did tell me the correct number

Cold but great service.
We had a mom’s and kids weekend and this place was mostly perfect. The history was cool. It was spacious and location couldn’t have been better. The heat did go out the day before we were scheduled to leave, which is the only reason I didn’t give it a perfect review. The property manager and staff were super responsive and apologetic and as helpful as they could be dropping off space heaters etc. I know stuff like that is also to be expected in old houses, but it was chilly! Based on the service though I would absolutely stay again and have no qualms recommending to others.

Historical trip.
Was the first time to Antietam and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The house was not the Hilton but that was not why we selected it. The house was very clean and well stocked for our purposes.

Great stay for exploring
Right in the middle of the small town of Sharpsburg, this was a great place to stay and explore the surrounding area. The ice cream shop, bakery, and restaurant are all just a few minutes' walk, and it's easy access to the next town over. The house was clean and the kitchen had all you'd need to camp out for quite a while. As of early June 2022 part of the fence in the backyard was missing, so the yard isn't truly fenced - anyone with pets take notice. One of the three queen beds needs a little more support; it's fine for one person, but two adults would definitely roll to the middle. Wifi was fast and reliable. Overall, really good place in a quiet small town to enjoy a long weekend.

Sharpsburg Gem
A sweet little house in Sharpsburg, that had everything we needed for a short stay to visit the Antietam battlefields and Harper’s Ferry. A few doors down from Nutters Ice Cream, which is not to be missed! We ate at Captain Benders which was lovely. Gorgeous homemade little bird houses decorate the porch. Only slight issue is that the bed in the 3rd bedroom is not comfortable. Maybe okay for young children but not for adults.

Really enjoyed our stay!! House was great. Great location for our activities. Dogs really enjoyed walking the alleys and the C & O. Also had to make one walk down to Nutters for ice cream. Dogs very excited about their kiddie cups. Lilah’s and The Blue Moon are great eating places in Shepherdstown.

A charming Christmas vacation
Such a beautiful home! It was clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed, and then some. We were happy to find complimentary snacks and a bottle of wine waiting in the fridge. The fenced in yard was perfect for our golden retriever. I would absolutely recommend this place and I will definitely be coming back for another stay!

Freedom's Run Stayover
My fiancee and my friend and his gf and I all stayed at the property since my friend and I ran the Freedom's Run race in Shepherdstown. The location and closeness to the race were both great. The house is wonderful and provided us with a positive overall weekend experience

The stay was great and convenient regarding location. My only suggestion would be to leave a note for guests so they know they are welcome to the food in the fridge (our first time using Vrbo so we weren't sure the food was for us).

Great central location to explore the local region battlefields, Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, Fredrick MD, and other national landmarks. The town of Sharpsburg is charming and the house is steps away from Nutter‘s ice cream and walkable town. The home is perfect for families with kids and dogs.

Wonderful house and neighborhood
You will not be disappointed if you rent this wonderful, old, historical house. It is spacious and clean, and the host provided welcoming amenities to make you feel welcome. The location of the house was perfect and allowed you to walk downtown in a couple of minutes. I truly enjoyed my stay.. Fenced backyard was clean and manicured and one of the nicer fenced areas for my dog at which I have stayed. You will not be disappointed! People in Sharpsburg are very friendly, and people driving by in cars waved while I was walking my dog through town. I truly enjoyed my short getaway!!

We had such a great time in this home. We spent time hanging out in the main spaces, watching movies, cooking, and eating together. It was the perfect setting for our murder mystery game! Plenty of sleeping space for us and comfortable rooms. If you want to cook, you should plan to bring most of the utensils you will need. We enjoyed exploring the town and hiking. Don’t miss the ice cream shop! The home has beautiful bird houses outside and is charming non the inside. We loved it!

One Night Stay in Sharpsburg
The location of this property is ideal for anyone wanting to visit Antietam Battlefield. The house is also one block away from restaurants and an ice cream shop. The house is spacious and has a great fenced in area in the back yard for those who need to bring along their pups! Communication with the owner regarding check-in/check-out procedures was also great. The house is old and has the typical old house quirks, i.e., uneven floors, which don't bother me in the least, as I live in an old house myself. Also, upon check-in, we discovered that the fridge was filled with some essentials such as OJ, muffins, waters etc. That was such a thoughtful surprise!! My only criticisms of this property concern the beds and the lack of an outlet in the full bath. I still think it's a great place to stay when visiting Sharpsburg!

Super convenient!
Our family stayed here to enjoy some Civil War history. We explored Antietam, Harper's Ferry, and Monocacy Battlefield - all very accessible from this location. We enjoyed all the space we had in the house, and the multiple bedrooms. Everything was super clean and the wifi was easily accessible. Little treats in the fridge were very welcome and appreciated! We had a lovely stay!

Just perfect
The name of the property "In the Heart of Antietam" fits this place perfectly. We walked to many locations from the front door. The house was very nice with lots of character. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We would definitely recommend this place.
